What is Sober.ie?

We define ourselves as “A technology driven approach to Sobriety”. Sober.ie is a collective community of addicts seeking tranquility, hope and contentment. Sober.ie delivers this through literature, tools, resources such as meeting lists, newsletters, a suggestion of tools that help with sobriety and a directory of helpful options like residential treatment and addiction counsellors.

Mission Statement:

To deliver the message of sobriety to as many addicts as possible in a community driven tech environment.

We do not have dues or fees. We do take contributions currently through GoFundMe, it covers current expenses and future expansion plans. We also have paid options to list in our resources section. You can also become a patron at a cost. 

If you feel like your benefitting from the platform and are enjoying the articles then feel free to contribute. If you feel like you can’t financially support the website, please consider sharing your story. This is of far greater value to everybody.

In line with our decision to focus this website as a Step 12 all GoFundMe adverts will only appear on my articles. Any articles submitted to ‘Our Stories’ will not have GoFundMe advertisements, afterall it is YOUR CONTENT which we have the gratitude for being allowed to publish on our website. We also do not have any GoFundMe advertisements in our ‘Meet’ Section and do not plan on profiting from this section.

All contributions help with the costs associated with such a high growth website and to save towards ‘the dream’. There is a lot of hardware and software running behind the scenes that need to be maintained. What was originally a Step 12 has turned into a massive project. I’m an addict, it was inevitable this would turn into a full-time job. It takes approximately four out of every six weeks just to maintain our ‘Meet’ section, a section we have took the decision to profit from.

Our current expenses include:

We are fully transparent and as a limited company we have our financials available every year. Our costs currently include our server, the development of ARM and a collection of premium WordPress plugins that allow our website to run smoothly. We would love to also include the cost of hiring PR firm Little & Large someday to enable us to share our message and help as many people as we possibly can. At present I do not take a salary for this project, I am hoping to receive a back to enterprise allowance payment to allow me work on this project full time.
